Things You'll Need

  • large aluminum bowl
  • usb wifi dongle
  • usb extender cable

Instructions

Complementary wireless lan wifi is almost everywhere these days. Many airports have access open to surfers as well as public library's and even some businesses and neighbors. I was helping a friend the other day set up there wifi-cantenna and noticed a neighbor had their internet connection open to everyone around with a ssid name stating just that: "free wifi connection" for anyone.

To get it in your own home you should walk around slowly with your laptop to all corners of your house and look at the signal strength and any unsecured open network that perhaps may be available to you. You can see them visible in your networking section under the control panel by finding "view available wireless networks". A shortcut to this would be to right click your wireless icon at bottom right of your computer screen and choose properties then choose "view available wireless networks".
Once you discover an available and open wireless connection you should increase your signal to get a better usable and faster internet connection, increasing your wireless network range. You do this by utilizing wireless lan antenna as mentioned above. You will no longer use the one built into your laptop but rather the usb dongle which allows you to move it around and up higher as an antenna should be for better signal.

    • 3-To get the best signal and use for this free internet signal, I suspended the usb dongle into a large aluminum mixing bowl and placed it onto a window in the direction of the internet signal. Our results for complementary internet were phenomenal. The transmission of the signal increased exponentially.
